The deadline has passed. Having spent the day sifting through our readers' zero attempts to create the next great Slashdot joke, I'm ready to announce that the winner is: nobody. Because, like I said, I didn't get any entries. Pay attention.
Thus "Soviet Russia," hobbled as it may be, marches on. That's OK. I'm not surprised by the nonexistent turnout; it was a pretty tough contest. But I wanted to give it a shot. The good news is that the contest didn't fail for lack of readership. In the past month or so, Blank of the Day has built up a steady flow of visitors, as illustrated by this chart of pre- and post-contest traffic:
